Once on the Island, head North on Highway 19 until you reach Campbell River. Then turn left onto the scenic highway 28, which will wrap around beautiful mountains and wide lakes, for almost 56 miles (93 km) to Gold River.
Upon arrival in Gold River, continue on from there following the signs on Tree to Sea Drive, to Tahsis. This leg of the journey is approximately 40 miles (65 km). The road is well maintained with hard top, but has small sections coated in gravel, with many steep hills. For your safety, ensure that you remain on your side of the road and drive with your headlights on at all times. If towing a boat or other recreational vehicle, verify that your brakes are functioning before you depart as the road has grades steep as 18%.
Upon arrival in Tahsis, stay on the Ocean Drive (Head Bay Rd), which will go across the bridge and turns into South Maquinna Drive. Follow it to the very end and you will see the Maquinna Resort on your left.
